The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell arrested an Assam Secretariat employee who was allegedly receiving a bribe. According to the Assam Police, a female government worker working as a senior assistant for the Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes was caught red-handed taking bribes within the Assam Secretariat campus. Seema Devi, a government employee, was caught while taking bribe money in the amount of Rs 4,000. The V&AC also recovered Rs 99,000 in cash from her purse, in addition to the bribe money. She was taken to the offices of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption for more questioning and investigation. According to reports, she used to demand money from anyone who came to her for any type of work.
