Guwahati: An assistant professor of a college has allegedly committed suicide a day before his birthday at his residence in Guwahati. According to the report, Rajib Lochan Dutta was an assistant professor in Sualkuchi Budram Madhav Satradhikar (SBMS) College, located at Sualkuchi on the outskirts of Guwahati. Police officers are investigating the incident. According to Prima facie,it’s a case of suicide. The 33-year-old professor was found dead on Thursday in his apartment at Games Village near Basistha area of the city. His brother-in-law Bedabrat Mohan saw him hanging in a room of his apartment that was bolted from inside. Chinky Mohan Dutta, wife of the professor had asked her brother to visit her husband after she could not contact him over the phone on Thursday morning. Basistha police have sent his body to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem. Dutta joined SBMS College at Sualkuchi in 2015 He had earlier served at Dibrugarh University in 2013-2014. He leaves behind his wife and a two-year-old daughter. Police are yet to ascertain the reason behind his alleged suicide.
