New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi and his Mauritian counterpart Pravind Jugnauth on Thursday inaugurated six community development projects on Agalega Island in Mauritius. Along with this, the new airstrip and St. James Jetty were also jointly inaugurated. Not only this, according to a statement from the PM's office, this program was organized through video conferencing. The inauguration of these many projects is a testament to the strong and decades-long development partnership between the two countries, India and Mauritius. Reports say that in fact, a few weeks ago both the leaders have launched UPI and RuPay card services in Mauritius. After which now the inauguration of these development projects is also holding great importance in this area. RuPay card services were launched on 12th February: Not only this, earlier on 12th February, PM Modi had launched RuPay card services in Mauritius with Jugnauth and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe through video conferencing. Along with this, Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services have also been started in Sri Lanka and Mauritius. Some reports say that PM Modi has said that the launch of new services will provide a lot of convenience to the citizens of both Sri Lanka and Mauritius. Talking about India's strong ties with Sri Lanka and Mauritius, PM Modi said it is a special day for the three friendly countries, as the historical connections of the three countries are also taking the form of modern digital connections.
