Despite making tremendous pressure on defending champions Australia, India lost 2-3 in their third match of the Champions Trophy hockey tournament in six countries. For the winning team, Lachlan Sharp (6th minute), Tom Craig (15th minute) and Trent Craig (33rd) scored goals, while India scored Varun Kumar (10th minute) and Harmanpreet Singh (58th) for the team. Due to the defeat in this match, the Indian team slipped from the second place to the pool list and reached third place. However, he still has the chance to reach the final by winning two remaining matches. Earlier, the Indian team had won in the first two matches played against Pakistan and Argentina. This is the first defeat of India in this tournament. The Indian hockey team, which beat Pakistan 4-0, continued their strong performance in the Champions Trophy and defeated Olympic champion Argentina 2-1 to win the second consecutive win. India made both of their goals in the second quarter. Although just before the halftime ended, Argentina got a penalty corner on which Gonzalo opened his team's account by scoring. Despite all the efforts, Argentina's team could not score any goals in the last two quarters. India's next World Champion match was against Australia on 27th June which India sadly lost.
