MUMBAI: The recently released theatrical movie "An Action Hero," starring Ayushmann Khurrana, has joined the list of films recording a disappointing opening-day attendance. According to Box Office India, the movie, directed by Anirudh Iyer, made a pitiful Rs 1.25 crore on its first day. With "Vicky Donor," the actor made a big debut in 2012. Since then, he has appeared in critically praised films "Article 15" and "Bareilly Ki Barfi," as well as hits like "Badhaai Ho," "Dream Girl," and "Bala." However, his most recent films, "Doctor G," "Anek," and "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui," all came and went without leaving an impression on either critics or audiences. An Action Hero was projected to debut at between Rs 3 and 4 crore, but it was unable to overcome Drishyam 2's dominance of the box office. Drishyam 2 stars Ajay Devgn. Also, 'Drishyam 2's' score is currently on its third Friday. Of all, with 'Drishyam 2' failing to gain any ground at the box office, even the Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starring film 'Bhediya' is battling to find an audience. Ayushmann plays Maanav Khurana, an action star who inadvertently kills Vicky Solanki, the younger brother of legendary criminal and Jat leader Bhoora Solanki, in the movie "An Action Hero," which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat (played by Jaideep Ahlawat). Khurana commits the crime after declining to play a gangster in the biography because he wants to avoid the "bhai log," or underworld. An Action Hero's opening-day revenue is less than that of another Ayushmann Khurrana flop, "Anek," which managed to make Rs. 1.7 crore. From this point on, the only thing Ayushmann's movie has going for it is word of mouth; otherwise, it is destined to disappear into obscurity.
