New Delhi: Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan and currently playing in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023, became the second cricketer to slam ten straight centuries in T20 cricket on Monday. Azam accomplished the feat during Colombo Strikers' seven-wicket victory over Galle Titans in an LPL match. Colombo's Azam helped his team finish the difficult 189-run chase in 19.5 overs with a score of 104 off 59 balls. Babar has scored three centuries in international matches, two in the Vitality Blast and one in the National T20 Cup. He is currently ranked third in the shorter format. Additionally, he scored one century during a tour game against Leicestershire and one in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In his 264th test, Babar accomplished the feat. The only other player to have more than 10 T20 centuries is "Universe Boss" Chris Gayle. Gayle leads the list with 22 tons in 463 games, breaking the record for the highest individual score (175* vs. Pune Warriors, IPL 2013). Tim Seifert, the wicketkeeper-batter for the Galle Titans, scored 54 runs off 35 balls as they posted a score of 188/3 in 20 overs while batting first. In response, Colombo got off to a great start thanks to the opening pair of Azam and Pathum Nissanka, who put up 111/1 in 12.3 overs for the first wicket. Nissanka's innings was ended at 54(40), but Babar continued playing until the very last over to ensure his team didn't lose any points.
