BANGALORE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaguratethe biggest Boeing facility outside the United States in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Friday, January 19. The brand-new Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre (BIETC) campus, situated at the Aerospace Park in Devanahalli, near Bangalore Airport, will be inaugurated. This state-of-the-art campus, constructed with an investment of Rs. 1,600 crore, spans 43 acres, marking Boeing's largest investment outside the US. During the event, PM Modi will introduce the Boeing Sukanya program, aimed at encouraging the participation of more girls from across India in the expanding aviation sector. This initiative will provide girls and women with opportunities to acquire essential skills in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) fields, preparing them for careers in the aviation industry. In the previous year, Boeing had committed a $100 million investment in infrastructure and training programs for pilots in India. This decision followed Air India's firm order for over 200 Boeing jets, including 20 787 Dreamliners, 10 777Xs, and 190 737 MAX narrowbody aircraft. As Bangalore continues its northward expansion, Devanahalli is emerging as a key hub for the aerospace industry, primarily due to its proximity to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and the convenience of the upcoming Blue Metro line (KR Pura – Yelahanka – KIA), expected to be operational by 2026.
