New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is going to have an Apex Council meeting today (December 21). Many major decisions are expected to be taken in this meeting. It is believed that Rohit Sharma may be removed from the post of T20I captain, while Rahul Dravid's coaching career is also under threat. However, this will be only for the shorter format, where India may get a different coach and captain for the T20I team. The BCCI Apex Council meeting will discuss whether the T20I team should get a separate captain and coach, as split coaching and captaincy can work at this point of time. The reason behind this is that there are many coaches who only give coaching in T20 cricket and their approach is different for this format. India has to play the next series in the T20 format and a new captain can be seen there. If the new captain and coach are discussed in the meeting, then Hardik Pandya can become the full-time T20I captain from the T20 series against Sri Lanka in January. However, the announcement of the coach will be delayed as the Cricket Advisory Committee is yet to be announced, on whose advice the BCCI can decide the selection committee and coaching staff. Another big issue in this meeting will also be to finalize the central contract of Indian players. Players like Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma are expected to be released, while players like Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav could be promoted. Along with this, the BCCI can also review the T20 World Cup 2022 and the preparations for the ODI World Cup can also be discussed. SKY doesn't need rest!
