BCCI nominates Mahendra Singh Dhoni for Padma Bhushan

The Former Indian captain and one of the finest player of Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni by the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) have been appointed for the nation's third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan for his brilliant contribution to the game.

MS Dhoni is already honored with prestigious Arjuna Award, Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna, and the Padma Shri Award. If the wicketkeeper-batsman is honored with Padma Bhushan then he will become only the 11th Indian cricketer to get the third highest civilian honor.

Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Chandu Borde, Dinkar Balwant Deodhar, Cottari Nayudu, and Lala Amarnath are the other recipients of the prestigious award.

The 36-year-old in 2004 he made his international debut during the ODI series against Bangladesh and made  9,737 runs in 302 ODIs besides amassing 4,876 runs in 90 Tests. In December 2014 he retired from Test cricket. 

He is also the only skipper to win all three major ICC tournaments - the 50-over World Cup, the Champions Trophy and the World T20.
