BCCI to honour Shashank Manohar

The members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will felicitate Shashank Manohar for becoming the International Cricket Council's first independent chairman, at a function in Mumbai on Saturday (May 21), the eve of the Special General Meeting (SGM). Anurag Thakur, BCCI secretary, will be hosting a farewell dinner in honour of Manohar, who stepped down as the board's president on May 10.

Manohar had resigned earlier this month as the BCCI president just over six months after commencing his second stint in the post, in order to be eligible to become ICC's first independent chairman.

Sunday's SGM, which has been called to fill the BCCI's president's post following Manohar's resignation, should see a smooth transition with Thakur taking over the reins. Thakur will then propose Shirke's name for the secretary's post. The SGM will be followed by a Working Committee meeting where BCCI members will deliberate over several issues besides ratifying the appointments of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in line with the Lodha committee's recommendations.
