As, the 2017 has started and the desire of having a new beginning is at its peak, with the new year, many people set resolutions and break them, but the most important thing is to stick with the statement, when its comes to your Career. So, as per the research by the John Norcross, author of Changeology: 5 Steps to Realizing your Goals and Resolutions, only 8 % ended up sticking to their goals from about 50 %, who set Goals for the Year. Here are some methods, which will help you stick at your resolutions for longer :- You need to know the reason behind your step: Firstly, before starting with the resolution of the year, every individual should know about their core values and desires. As per the Stanford psychologist Kelly McGonigal, "New Year resolutions that connect with the 'ideal self' are most effective". So, just connect your resolution with a shallow purpose, which will help you to stay at your goal. Make specific goals: To know deeply about the goal is must, as the lack of specificity may set you up for failure. So, try to make your resolution essential, that will let you track your movement. Short term and long term thinking is must: The unrealistic resolutions will not work as ambitious long-term goal can be achieved by the small steps taken by the individual. Joyce Hanna, of Stanford University said, “the greatest success comes when we set short-term, realistic, behavioral goals - based on what we have been doing previously - that will gradually lead to sustainable change". Pen down your goals: From our Childhood, we have learned to pen down things, so that we can memorize for it long time and can work better on this. Which will also be suggested by the Study done at Dominican University that, “writing one's goal enhances goal achievement significantly”. Whenever you feel like loosing your interest, write you aim at paper and share it with friends or family who are sure to motivate you. Light a fire under your goals: Be committed towards your goal, and try to slightly change your behavior, according to the demands of your resolution. Resolve and Face setbacks: Give yourself the opportunity to bounce back as the chances of failure may come in your way or you may not be able to reach your goal. But, trying and staying positive is the perfect way to deal with the consequences.
