Belgium tightens steps to combat spike in Covid-19 infections

Belgian officials have proposed new measures to combat the spike in new coronavirus cases, including the requirement that all closed public locations wear masks. Following the unveiling of the new measures, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo stated, "The virus is three times more contagious than the virus of 2020." "We focus on prevention and protection rather than closure," he continued.

Everyone over the age of ten will be required to wear a face mask, except at school. This will be the case in all closed public areas, such as public transportation, stores, and cinemas, as well as during any outdoor events that are subject to the requirement. According to sources, teleworking will become mandatory in the commercial sector and in all public administrations unless the nature of the function or the continuity of activities prevents it.

To enter restaurants, as well as public and private events with more than 50 people within and 100 people outside, the "Covid Safe Ticket Plus" (CST+), which combines the CST and the wearing of the mask, will be necessary. The Prime Minister issued a warning that social separation should be maintained at 1.5 metres, stressing that a fresh vaccination campaign for a booster dosage is in the works.
