Bengaluru violence: Miscreants looted Rs 3 crore gold and silver from Congress MLA Srinivas Murthy's house

BENGALURU: Congress MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy's house was set on fire by miscreants during the violence in Bangalore has now filed a police complaint of theft. In Bangalore's DJ Hall, the miscreants stole gold and silver worth Rs 3 crore from the house after setting fire to Srinivas' house and the MLA has registered an FIR in this regard.

According to the complaint, on August 11, around 2000-3000 people gathered outside his house and set fire to other properties including vehicles. The MLA cited the imposition of Section 144 as the reason behind the delay and said that he was staying in a safe place. According to media reports, the MLA claims that he has full support of the Congress party. The rioting crowd targeted the MLA's house as his nephew P Naveen allegedly shared a disputed post against Prophet Mohammad on Facebook, following which violence erupted in the city on 11 August.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested 35 more accused in connection with the Bangalore violence. After which the total number of accused arrested was 340, including the name of Kalim Pasha, husband of Congress councilor Irshad Begum from Nagwara ward. Pasha is a close associate of Congress leader and former Karnataka minister KJ George and is also closely associated with the SDPI.
