Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets ICC Player of the Month Award

New Delhi: India's experienced fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been selected as the ICC Player of the Month for his outstanding performance in the limited-overs series against England in March. Bhuvneshwar took 6 wickets in three ODIs at an average of 4.65, while in five T20s, he took 4 wickets at an average of 6.38.

He said in the release issued by the ICC that, 'After a long and painful break, it was a pleasure to play for India again. During this time I worked immensely on my fitness and technique. It is good to take wickets for India again'. He further said, 'I want to thank everyone who was my partner in this journey from the beginning. My family, friends, and fellow players. Special thanks to the ICC Voting Academy and all the fans who voted me for choosing the best player of the month of March".

Apart from Bhubaneswar, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan and Zimbabwean Sean Williams were also in the race. Former India batsman and member of ICC Voting Academy, VVS Laxman said that 'Bhuvi could not play international cricket for almost one and a half years due to injuries. He made a comeback with a good performance in front of England's aggressive batsmen in the powerplay and death overs and laid the foundation for India's victory".
