WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden mulls to tap Julie Chavez Rodriguez as his 2024 re-election campaign manager, sources familiar with the development confirmed Sunday. It is said, Chavez Rodriguez's appointment has not been finalized and Biden has yet to formally launch his reelection campaign. CBS News was first to report that Joe Biden has decided to pick Chavez Rodriguez. Longtime Democratic Party activist Chavez Rodriguez also worked in the White House under previous President Barack Obama. She is the great-granddaughter of labour activist Helen Fabela Chávez and labour leader Cesar Chavez. She participated in protests, picket lines, boycotts, marches, and union meetings while growing up in California. Chavez Rodriguez is closely connected to Kamala Harris, the vice president. She worked for Harris' 2020 presidential campaign as well as her Senate office. She later became a senior outreach adviser for Biden's 2020 presidential campaign. According to three people briefed on the conversations, Biden is anticipated to officially launch his 2024 reelection campaign as early as this week. The individuals, who wished to remain anonymous to discuss private discussions, said they were unaware of any scheduling decisions that had been made but that Biden had been considering Tuesday, April 25, which falls exactly four years after the Democrat entered the 2020 race. It is anticipated that the next announcement would take the shape of a video distributed to supporters. Although Biden, 80, has often stated his intention to seek reelection, advisers said he has not felt particularly compelled to begin his campaign because he faces little real competition for his party's nomination.
