Rahul Gandhi's Congress is with liquor mafia: BJP leader Sushil Modi

Patna: Former deputy CM of Bihar and Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday accused the Congress of being with the liquor mafia. He said that Gandhiji's Congress was pro-prohibition, while Rahul's Congress is with liquor mafia. Modi further said that it is ironic that the Congress whose membership is required to take a pledge not to consume liquor, is arguing that to stop alcohol ban and open liquor in order to take political advantage.

Sushil Modi said that Gandhiji's Congress was in favor of liquor ban, while Rahul Gandhi's Congress is helping the liquor mafia politically. He further said that Mahatma Gandhi laid great emphasis on complete prohibition, but only Narendra Modi showed the courage to keep it in force in his state Gujarat. Sushil Modi said that Bihar is the second big state, where complete prohibition was implemented.

Modi described the incidents of smuggling of alcohol in Bihar and the death of poisonous liquor as tragic and said that the policy and law of prohibition can not be misunderstood. He said that the government's intention should not be questioned by these incidents. He said that the Congress, RJD and its supporters are only willing to protest for the sake of opposition.
