Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Dismisses Speculations of JD(U) Returning to NDA, Focuses on Strengthening INDIA Bloc

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has firmly rejected speculations circulating in certain sections of the media about his party, JD(U), rejoining the BJP-led NDA, with which it had severed ties approximately a year ago. Kumar emphasized that his primary concern is to bolster the opposition INDIA alliance. In response to reporters' inquiries regarding the speculations, Kumar curtly stated, "Kya faltu baat hai" (what rubbish!).

Kumar, a prominent figure in the anti-BJP INDIA coalition, also expressed his disapproval of party colleagues making statements about his qualifications for the role of Prime Minister. "I have already instructed my party colleagues not to make such statements. My sole objective is to fortify the unity of the INDIA alliance. I am working solely in this direction," he affirmed. Maheshwar Hazari, Bihar Assembly Deputy Speaker and senior JD(U) leader, had previously asserted that Nitish Kumar was the most suitable candidate for the position of Prime Minister within the INDIA alliance.

When asked about the possibility of a cabinet expansion, Kumar deferred to his deputy, Tejashwi Yadav. "Pose this question to the deputy chief minister," he advised reporters who inquired about cabinet expansion speculations. The current state cabinet, headed by Nitish Kumar, comprises 28 ministers, with the RJD, to which Tejashwi Yadav belongs, holding the majority share, despite the resignation of two of its ministers. Regarding BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's derogatory comments directed at BSP lawmaker Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha recently, Kumar urged to move on from the topic, emphasizing that his government is dedicated to the welfare of all sections of society.
