Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Sunday that additional political parties are likely to join the opposition INDIA bloc during its forthcoming meeting in Mumbai. Although Kumar did not disclose the names of the potential entrants, he confirmed that discussions regarding poll-related arrangements, including seat-sharing, would take place at the meeting. Addressing the press in Patna, Kumar stated, "At the upcoming meeting in Mumbai, we will deliberate on the INDIA bloc's strategies for the upcoming general elections in the next year. Various topics, including seat-sharing, will be addressed, and we anticipate the inclusion of several new political parties in our coalition." Expressing his goal to unite as many parties as possible before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Kumar emphasized his focus on collective efforts rather than personal ambitions. The 26-party opposition alliance, formed to collectively challenge the ruling BJP in the upcoming national elections, has convened twice in under a month. Their initial meetings were held in Patna on June 23 and Bengaluru on July 17-18. The bloc is scheduled to hold its third meeting in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1. Concurrently, Chief Minister Kumar inspected the ongoing construction of Lohia Path Chakra near Hartali More on Bailey Road in Patna. He expressed confidence that the project would be completed before Durga Puja, enhancing traffic movement in the area.
