Patna: A Muslim mob wreaked havoc in Majuva village under Khapada Panchayat of Bayasi police station in Purnia district of Bihar. The mob not only set fire to more than a dozen houses in the Mahadalit basti but also thrashed the watchman of the township to death. Police rushed to the spot and the fire was doused with the help of fire tenders. Another watchman Bharat Rai said that he was accompanied by another colleague Dinesh Rai on the spot. He said that there was a little bit of fight during the day, after which the administration came and explained to him and cooled the matter down, but at 11:30 p.m., a crowd of about 150 from nearby villages reached there. The crowd had gathered there from all three directions, east, north and south. Bharat Rai said everyone had a gallon of petrol in their hands. The mob poured petrol on the houses and started burning them. In the meantime, when people left the house and started running away, the mob dragged them away and started beating them. The accused also carried swords, sticks, petrol and bike chains. Several people have been injured in the mob attack. Bharat Rai said that people have been killed with a lot of ruthlessness. One person killed and about 20-25 persons are injured and are undergoing treatment at the hospital. Bharat Rai said that all those who came belonged to the Muslim community. He said the case was of personal rivalry between Rizvi, Shakid and Ilyas. The rest of the people came with him only because he is a Muslim. The entire crowd had reached the village to help the Muslim community.
