Government in action, now elected public representatives to take part in meetings themselves

Patna: In Bihar, newly elected women public representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Gram Kachhari will now have to come on their own to attend the meeting. The Bihar government has now abolished the right of people's representatives to nominate someone else in their place. Following this order, no one other than elected public representatives has now been banned from attending panchayati raj institutions and gram kachhari meetings.

It was generally seen that the people's representative would nominate her husband or anyone else as their representative in their place and send them to the meeting, which did not provide accurate information in the meeting. The government is said to have now issued the order to crack down on the husbands of women heads. On Thursday, State Panchayati Raj Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that no other person will attend the meetings in place of the women people's representatives who have been elected for the three-tier Panchayat Institutions and Gram Kachhari.

The Minister said that a meeting of three-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions is held from time to time. It will be attended by women people's representatives themselves. He said that so far if any public representative has been making his presence felt through his representatives, it will no longer be allowed.
