Anand was born on July 21, 1930, in Rawalpindi, his family migrated to Lucknow after India-Pak partition
Served in royal Indian navy for 2 years but got dismissed. He also worked For Indian Army from 1947 to 1956.
His first poem was published in ‘Sainik Samachar’, an Army publication
He worked as the telephone operator in Lucknow and then he went to Mumbai and worked there as a motor mechanic.
In his career, he has worked in more than 550 films and has written over 4000 songs
Anand worked with top composers of that time. He worked with Laxmikant Pyarelal on 300 films.
He got famous in 1967, after the success of movie ‘Milan’ songs
He also has sung a song with Lata Mangeshkar in the film ‘Mom ki Gudiya’
This legendary lyricist passed away on 30th March 2002
