Priyanka Tibrewal to take on 'Mamata' in Bhowanipore, BJP plans to defeat Didi

Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Priyanka Tibrewal for the Bhowanipore by-election in West Bengal. In West Bengal, Priyanka Tibrewal and Mamata Banerjee will contest from the Bhowanipore assembly seat. Priyanka Tibrewal is a lawyer by profession. She was the one who filed a petition against the violence that erupted after the assembly elections.

State that polling for the Bhowanipore assembly seat will be held on September 30. Bye-elections are proposed in Samserganj and Jangipur seats in West Bengal as well as Pipli constituency in Odisha on the same day. The votes will be counted on October 3. All eyes were on who the BJP would field from the seat as there are only three days left for the nomination. Congress has refused to field its candidate in the seat.

The BJP has chalked out a big strategy to corner Mamata Banerjee in Bhowanipore. Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh has been appointed as the Observer of Bhowanipore on Friday ahead of the announcement of candidate Priyanka Tibrewal. Along with Arjun Singh, MPs Soumitra Khan and Jyotirmay Singh have been made co-observers. In charge of Bhowanipore, General Secretary Sanjay Singh has been made sub-in-charge with 2 others. The BJP has entrusted each ward with the responsibility of one MLA each (total of 8). Actor Rudranil Ghosh has been made chairman of the publicity committee.
