BJP begins new social media campaign against AAP

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is the target of a new  social media campaign by the BJP ahead of the Gujarat and MCD elections later this month.

Arvind Kejriwal, the convenor of the AAP and Delhi Chief Minister, has come under fire from the saffron party for breaking his pledges in the AAP-ruled cities of Delhi and Punjab through the campaign 'Jisne dia Mauka, usko dio Dhokha' (bit the hands that fed).

In the videos that have been shared on the BJP's and Delhi BJP's official Twitter pages, Yamraj can be seen speaking with Chandragupt regarding both states. Chandrgupt tells the story of a man who betrayed the people in exchange for a "mauka" (chance). Two videos were posted by BJP.

While one of the movies discusses how Kejriwal promised to create a "nasha mukt Punjab" (Drug-free Punjab) but failed to do so, the other discusses how he also fell short of keeping his promise to clean the Yamuna river.

Meenakshi Lekhi, a minister, tweeted in response to the videos: "54,000 persons in Delhi passed away in a single year from breathing air pollution alone! For eight years, a guy used to attribute Punjab's stubble burning on the region's toxic air. Just shaking hands and saying sorry to the issue today. Anyone who gave him a chance was duped."

Parvesh Verma, a member of the Delhi BJP, remarked, "Whoever gave the criminal Kejriwal a chance, He was scammed in return!"

On December 4, there will be an MCD election to choose 250 council members for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. November 7 will see the announcement of the outcome.

Gujarat elections will take place over two days, on December 1 and 5, and the results will be announced on December 8.
