BJP leader Babul Supriyo to resign from the post of MP

Kolkata: Former Union Minister Babul Supriyo, who recently joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC), is likely to resign as an ASANSOL MP on Tuesday. Supriyo, who had written to Speaker Om Birla to complete the formalities of his resignation as an MP, has been given time at 11 am on Tuesday.

According to party sources, Supriyo will leave for Delhi on Tuesday morning and complete the formalities of his resignation. Earlier, just after going to TMC, Babul Supriyo had made it clear that he would not hold the post of MP, because it would be immoral. He was elected as an MP from Asansol on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket and is no longer in the BJP. Babul Supriyo, who joined the Trinamool Congress on September 18, had earlier announced that he would resign after meeting the Lok Sabha Speaker. However, there are some instances that MPs and MLAs do not step down even after resigning from the party.

Babylon Supriyo is likely to resign on Tuesday, nearly a month after joining TMC. Though Babul Supriyo had earlier gone to the national capital to resign, he could not get time from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Due to this, he could not resign as an MP.
