Indore: Monu Kalyane, a prominent local BJP leader and aide to Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, was fatally shot early Sunday in Indore, according to police reports. Kalyane, serving as the city vice president of BJP's Yuva Morcha, was recognized for his close associations with Kailash Vijayvargiya and his son, former MLA Akash Vijayvargiya. Preliminary investigations indicate that the assailants, identified as Piyush and Arjun, shot Kalyane due to an old enmity. Both suspects, who lived in Kalyane's neighborhood, are currently at large, prompting a widespread search operation. Kailash Vijayvargiya, expressing his sorrow over Kalyane's death, vowed that stringent action would be taken against those responsible. Eyewitnesses recounted that Kalyane was approached by the two men on a motorcycle while he was putting up banners and posters for an upcoming saffron vehicle rally in the Chimanbagh area. The attackers asked for his phone number, and as Kalyane retrieved his mobile, one of them drew a pistol and shot him in the chest before fleeing the scene. Kalyane was immediately taken to the hospital by his friends, where doctors declared him dead. In response to the incident, the area where the murder occurred has been cordoned off, with a significant police presence now stationed outside Kalyane's residence. Kalyane was well-known for organizing large events in his community, often attended by senior BJP leaders and other notable figures.
