New Delhi: Responding to former Congress leader Simi Rose Bell John’s allegations of exploitation within the party, BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar accused Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi of hypocrisy. Chandrasekhar claimed that while the Congress party makes promises about women's safety during elections, it fails to take action against similar issues within its ranks. Chandrasekhar remarked, "This is a very shameful example of what the Congress really is. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi will make grand statements about protecting women's rights and dignity before elections. However, when it comes to dealing with issues in their own party, they do nothing." He elaborated on the situation, stating, "There is a woman leader in Kerala Congress who has reported harassment but has seen no investigation into her complaint. Instead, she was dismissed. This is the true nature of Congress. They say one thing before elections and do the opposite afterward." Chandrasekhar also criticized the Congress party’s response to recent allegations. He pointed out that despite the HEMA committee report highlighting the exploitation of women in the Kerala film industry, the Congress’s handling of similar issues within their own party remains inadequate. He further detailed the allegations made by Simi Rose Bell John, who claimed that the Congress party harbors a "casting couch" environment and does not take allegations of harassment seriously. Chandrasekhar emphasized that, unlike other organizations, the Congress Party allegedly fails to investigate such claims and instead silences and expels those who raise them. In response to the allegations, Kerala Congress Chief K Sudhakaran announced that the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) would investigate the complaint filed by the Mahila Congress against Simi Rose Bell John. Sudhakaran asserted that John’s derogatory remarks about Congress women leaders were baseless and that the KPCC would address the complaint accordingly.
