BJP Leader Sandhya Yadav Slams Congress Nominee Kantilal Bhuria Over Controversial Rs 2 Lakh Promise

Indore: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sandhya Yadav criticized veteran Congress leader and Ratlam parliamentary seat nominee Kantilal Bhuria on Friday for his controversial remark, accusing Congress leaders of consistently insulting women. Bhuria stirred controversy on Thursday by promising Rs 2 lakh to those with two wives if the Congress came to power.

Yadav stated, "Congress leaders have a history of insulting women. Whether it's senior party leaders like Digvijaya Singh, Kamal Nath, or Congress chief Jitu Patwari, they have all been guilty of it. Now, Kantilal Bhuria is campaigning for elections and promising Rs 1 lakh to those with one wife and Rs 2 lakh to those with two wives."

She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and criticized the Congress party, highlighting that while PM Modi had abolished triple talaq, Congress leaders were promoting polygamy. "PM Modi has abolished triple talaq, but Kantilal Bhuria and Jitu Patwari are promoting polygamy. Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi should speak on the issue and apologize to women," Yadav added.

On Thursday, addressing a poll rally in Ratlam, Bhuria had said, "If Congress comes to power, every woman will get Rs 1 lakh in her bank account, as per our manifesto. Women from each household will receive Rs 1-1 lakh. Those who have two wives will get Rs 2 lakh..."

The Congress party had released its manifesto 'Nyay Patra' for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on April 5, promising to introduce the 'Mahalaxmi Scheme' to provide Rs 1 lakh annually to the poor to alleviate poverty.

Kantilal Bhuria is contesting on a Congress ticket against BJP's Anita Chauhan, the wife of MP forest minister Nagar Singh Chauhan. Ratlam constituency will go to polls in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 13.

Lok Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh are underway in four phases. The first phase of voting ended on April 19, followed by the second phase on April 26 and the third phase on May 7.

The final phase for the state is scheduled for May 13, which includes eight constituencies: Dhar, Dewas, Ujjain, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Indore, Khargone, and Khandwa. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
