Vinay Prabhakar Sahasrabuddhe, Indian politician & Member of Parliament of India representing the state of Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha have presented a suspension of business in the upper house. On Monday the member of Rajya Sabha has submitted an application to suspend the businesses that are listed for 23rd July’s discussion so that the house can discuss on the issue of the serious situation arising out of floods and other natural calamities due to heavy rains in several parts of the country. The BJP MP’s application reads that “The entire listed business in Rajya Sabha be suspended today to enable the house to take up the issue of serious situation arising out of floods and other natural calamities due to heavy rains in several parts of the country.” The application is submitted under the rule 267(Suspension of rules) which claimed that “Any member, may, with the consent of the Chairman, move that any rule may be suspended in its application to a motion related to the business listed before the Council of that day and if the motion is carried, the rule in question shall be suspended for the time being: Provided further that this rule shall not apply where specific provision already exists for suspension of a rule under a particular chapter of the Rules.”
