BJP MP Varun Gandhi slammed Twitter, Tharoor said- My account was also blocked!

New Delhi: Amid the growing tussle between Twitter and the Government of India, many leaders are constantly vocal about the norms of the micro-blogging platform. BJP MP from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi has slammed Twitter for sending a notice. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has said that his account was also blocked. Similarly, on Friday (June 25, 2021), the account of Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was also blocked by Twitter for nearly an hour.

Twitter has sent an e-mail to Varun Gandhi over the rule violation. He has shared a screenshot of the mail and asked the company for a response in this regard. Varun Gandhi tweeted, "I have not violated any law. There was nothing objectionable in my tweet and Twitter should clarify for the mail on what basis it has been sent.'' In his tweet, he said Twitter has been bullying citizens who have different political opinions for a long time.

The screenshot shared by Varun Gandhi says, "Keeping transparency in mind, we are giving you information about it. We have not taken any action about the reported content. We respect and defend the voice of our users. It is our policy that if we get a legal request from a government agency, we inform the users about it.''
