BJP President Amit Shah likely to address a rally in Baramati

Bhartiya Janta Party president Amit Shah is likely to address a rally in Baramati in Pune district on April 19. Amit Shah is likely to visit Baramati and address a public meeting in support of party nominee Kanchan Kul who is locked in battle against Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Earlier, Maharashtra BJP leaders were trying to organize a rally of the PM in Baramati. However, he is unlikely to come due to his busy schedule, they said.  In February, during his visit to the city, Amit Shah had said that at any cost the BJP has to win in Baramati, currently being represented by Supriya Sule. Shah’s remarks had given hope to party workers that PM Modi’s rally will be held there.

According to the sources, a BJP leader said, "Instead of Modi Ji, now Amit Ji will hold a rally in Baramati city on April 19," he said. PM Modi will address a rally at Akluj neighboring Baramati on April 17, he said, adding that the proposed rally will also have a positive impact on Baramati constituency.

"Modi is likely to arrive in Pune on April 16 evening and stay there overnight before heading for Akluj the next day. He will not address any rally or meeting in Pune," the party leader said. The no-show by PM Modi has also triggered talks about the proximity he shares with Pawar. In his rallies held in Maharashtra, Modi had said that Pawar was losing grip over the NCP and his nephew Ajit Pawar is trying to take charge.
