New Delhi: BJP leader and party MP Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized the Congress following remarks made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who was sworn in recently. Reddy had commented on his opponent, former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, stating that Rao's "DNA is from Bihar." Speaking at a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Ravi Shankar Prasad accused Congress leaders of a divisive plan to split the country along North-South lines. He highlighted Revanth Reddy's statement about Bihar's DNA being inferior and mentioned another Congress leader's claim of a "North-South" divide in the country. Prasad questioned the Congress party's tactics to remain relevant, expressing concern about the divisive approach. Prasad noted that top Congress leaders, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, attended Revanth Reddy's oath-taking ceremony but did not insist on withdrawing his controversial statement before the swearing-in. He urged the Congress not to engage in divisive politics based on the cultural and social unity of the country. Prasad also questioned JDU leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's silence on Revanth Reddy's remarks. Alleging that Rahul Gandhi chose to contest Lok Sabha polls from Amethi in the North to Wayanad in Kerala due to a higher Muslim and Christian population, Prasad criticized the Congress for its political decisions affecting the country's unity.
