BJP spokesperson Bansuri Swaraj Slams AAP's 'Celebration of Corruption' After Kejriwal's Bail

New Delhi: The BJP has sharply criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for what it describes as a 'celebration of corruption' in response to the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. BJP spokesperson Bansuri Swaraj made the comments at a press conference on Friday, accusing the AAP of misleading the public with its 'twisted' narrative.

Swaraj noted that while the Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal due to the ‘prolonged trial’, this does not exonerate him from serious charges related to the liquor policy scam. She emphasized that Kejriwal remains a central figure in the scandal.

Pointing to previous court decisions, Swaraj highlighted that multiple rulings have upheld Kejriwal's arrest as legal. She referenced the similar observations made by the Apex Court in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case against the Delhi CM. “This is about the third or fourth time that Kejriwal’s arrest has been found to be legal. The court's repeated observations demonstrate that these arrests are based on substantial evidence,” Swaraj said.

Swaraj also detailed the conditions imposed by the Supreme Court as part of Kejriwal's bail, including prohibitions on visiting the Chief Minister's Office and signing official documents. She recalled an earlier instance when the court suggested that Kejriwal should step down for the welfare of Delhi, which he did not act upon.

“The Supreme Court has granted bail but has prohibited him from performing official duties, which underscores ongoing concerns about his involvement in corruption,” Swaraj added.

She also criticized the INDIA bloc for allegedly trying to shield those involved in corruption, asserting that for the BJP, the fight against corruption is an ideological struggle rather than a mere electoral issue.
