BJP workers arrested in Chhattisgarh, know why?

Raipur: BJP workers protesting against the Baghel government in Chhattisgarh were arrested. BJP workers protested against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, due to which more than 800 workers were present in the capital. According to the media report, when the activists tried to surround the state assembly, the police took them into custody. Let us know that the monsoon session of the state assembly is currently underway. A heavy police team deployed at the Lodhi Para Chowk complex here foiled an attempt to surround the Assembly building.

Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police Sukhnandan Rathore said that several BJP workers, led by senior leaders including MLA Brijmohan Agarwal and former minister Rajesh Munat, were prevented from moving forward by police personnel at Lodhi Para Chowk, where barricades were pitched to stop the protesters.

He said around 800 BJP workers, including its senior leaders, were arrested as a precautionary measure and later released unconditionally. Talking about the protesters, MLA Brijmohan Agarwal attacked the government, saying the law and order situation in the state has "completely collapsed" and Raipur is turning into 'Kharipur', citing incidents of stabbing in the capital. MLA Agarwal also alleged that instead of providing employment, "drugs are being served to the youth" and incidents of rape, loot and murder are on the rise in the state. The BJP said thousands of women and youth voluntarily participated in the protest and raised slogans against the Congress government in addition to the BJP workers. A release said all BJP office bearers were arrested from Raipur due to the protest.
