Digboi: an army vehicle was triggered in a powerful explosion killing three soldiers and injuring four in Digboi in Tinsukia district of Assam. The blast occurred around 5.30 am in the Pengeri area. According to the Defence public relations officer Lt. Col. Suneet Newton, "they (the terrorists) had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) on the road. When the IED exploded, the convoy stopped. Then the terrorists fired indiscriminately". Due to the attack, an encounter has been started between the security forces and alleged terrorists. "Deeply anguished to learn of the death of Army soldiers in a blast in Tinsukia. I pray for the speedy recovery of our injured soldiers," tweeted Home Minister Rajnath Singh after the attack.
