Bomb Threats Prompt Evacuations at Eight Schools in Trichy

Trichy (Tamil Nadu): Eight schools in Trichy district received bomb threats via email on Thursday, prompting immediate action from school authorities. The threats were discovered only after the schools opened for the day, leading officials to quickly inform the police and evacuate the premises.

Authorities swiftly deployed bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs to inspect the schools, as confirmed by Trichy City Police. After thorough checks, the bomb detection team found no suspicious items on the grounds.

As investigations continue, police suspect the email may have been a hoax.

In a related incident, security has been tightened at eight railway stations across Rajasthan due to bomb threats received on Tuesday. A letter threatening to bomb stations in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar, Bundi, Alwar, and Udaipur was reported on October 1.

Captain Shashi Kiran, Railway CPRO, stated that the letter was addressed to an official at the Hanumangarh railway station, leading to immediate security measures. A thorough search of the Hanumangarh station revealed no suspicious items, and a case has been filed against unidentified individuals at the Hanumangarh GRP police station.

Authorities are actively searching trains and enhancing security at all affected stations. While no suspicious materials have been found thus far, measures remain in place, especially at the Bikaner station, where all passengers are being checked. Additional police, GRP, and security personnel have been deployed, with dog squads assisting in the searches.
