Brazil detects the first case of re-infection with covid-19 variant

A new strain of coronavirus is wreaking havoc in many countries across the world.news agency Agencia Brasil reported, A Brazilian woman on Friday has become the first person in the world to be re-infected with a variant of the novel coronavirus known as E484K.

The researchers from the D'Or Institute for Research and Education in northeast Bahia discovered this case which involves a 45-year-old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 in May and tested positive again in October with the mutation. In both cases, the patient did not present serious symptoms.

Brazil has topped 8 million, the country's Health Ministry said in a statement. The case tally stands at 8,013,708, an increase of 52,035 in the past 24 hours. The global tally of coronavirus cases stands at 89,324,792. While 63,990,133 have recovered, 1,920,754 have died so far.
