Britain could give a huge shock to Pak, Will make a huge cut in Financial help

LONDON: Amid a parliamentary inquiry into Britain's aid to Pakistan between 2013 and 2018, there are indications that Pakistan's funding from Britain could come down drastically next year. According to a report by Geo News, the huge pressure to cut foreign aid could also be cut to Pakistan amid rising poverty in Britain and political tensions over Brexit on the country's government.

A source from the International Development Committee (IDC) of the British Parliament said that the IDC's funding programme for Pakistan is being scrutinized by the IDC. At the same time, he confirmed that there is a lot of pressure on the government to either stop or make major cuts to aid to other countries, including Pakistan.

The source told the media that the final decision in the matter will be taken only after the government releases a report examining the aid programme next year. British aid to Pakistan has already been reduced from 32.5 million pounds in 2018-19 to 30.2 million pounds for 2019-20.
