The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully shot down a drone in Punjab's Ferozepore, which was transporting illegal goods, including 500 grams of heroin and a pistol. This incident highlights ongoing challenges in combating drug smuggling across the India-Pakistan border.
On Saturday, the BSF reported the recovery of the drone, emphasizing that it represents a significant setback for trans-border criminals trying to smuggle drugs into India from Pakistan. Earlier, on Thursday, the BSF had seized 13 kilograms of suspected heroin in the Tarn Taran Border district.
In a related operation, BSF personnel, along with Tarn Taran police, discovered an improvised Pakistani drone in Naushera Dhalla village during a search operation. This find underscores the innovative tactics employed by smugglers and the BSF's commitment to countering these threats.
Additionally, on October 7, the BSF recovered about 560 grams of suspected heroin concealed in a plastic container in Ratankhurd village, Amritsar district. The container was found during monitoring of harvesting activities near the border security fence. Wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and equipped with an iron wire hook, it contained the illegal substance.
On October 5, in another operation with Punjab Police, the BSF found a 68-gram packet of suspected heroin in Dal village, Tarn Taran district. This packet was also wrapped in yellow and white adhesive tape and was located in a farming field.
The recent operations by the BSF demonstrate their active efforts to prevent drug smuggling and maintain border security in the region.
