Bus filled with 35 people fell in ditch, five died, many injured

Shimla: A bus coming from Chandigarh in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh fell victim to the accident on Tuesday morning. Five people have lost their lives in this accident. The accident took place at around six thirty in the morning. According to the information received, about 35 people were boarding the bus. So far 15 people have been rescued and taken to the hospital where they are undergoing treatment. The accident occurred near Hadotha on the Chamba-Pathankot National Highway.

The local people immediately got into the ditch soon after getting the information of the accident and started the relief and rescue work. Police and administration also reached the spot shortly after. The bus was coming to Chamba from Chandigarh via Pathankot. Many people were coming home from Chandigarh to celebrate Holi. But this accident happened at some distance from Chamba. The injured were rushed to the hospital immediately. But due to having only one doctor in the hospital, there was an atmosphere of panic.

MLA Pawan Nair of Chamba also reached the hospital as soon as the accident was reported. The MLAs were agitated after seeing the chaos. The MLA made a call to CM Jairam Thakur, made him aware of the bad arrangements and expressed his displeasure. Pawan said the injured were rushed to the hospital. While the doctor arrived at the hospital after one and a half hours.
