BYD India is gearing up to launch an affordable electric SUV, the Atto 3, in the Indian market on July 10. The new variant of the Atto 3 is expected to be priced between Rs 26-28 lakh, significantly lower than the current price of Rs 33.99 lakh. The new variant will come with a smaller 50 kWh battery pack, compared to the existing 60.48 kWh battery pack, which will reduce the car's range from 521 km to around 450 km on a single charge.
The Atto 3 will compete with the MG ZS EV in the electric segment, and its lower price is expected to make it a more attractive option for buyers. The new variant will also have a less powerful motor, producing around 150 bhp, compared to the existing 201 bhp. Some features may also be stripped off to keep the price competitive.
The Atto 3 will rival other upcoming electric SUVs like the Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, and Hyundai Creta EV, which are expected to launch in 2025. However, BYD's new electric variant will hit the market on July 10, making it one of the most affordable electric SUVs in India. Further details about the new variant will be revealed at the launch event.
