Edtech company Byju's has announced a cash prize of 2 crore rupees for winning a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics to India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. It has also decided to give Rs 1 crore each to other medal-winning players. BYJU's said that moving towards motivating players in the sports world, the company has announced Rs 2 crore for Neeraj Chopra and Rs 1 crore each for Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Lovlina Borgohain, PV Sindhu, and Bajrang Punia. Neeraj had won the gold medal by throwing an 87.58m javelin in his second attempt in the final of the Olympic javelin throw event on Saturday. This is India's first Olympic medal in athletics in more than 100 years. His victory brought India's medal tally to 7, India's best performance in these games. At the same time, Baiju Ravindran, founder, and CEO of Byju Company said, "Sports play an important role in nation-building and it is time to celebrate our Olympic heroes daily instead of celebrating them once in four years."
