Cabinet sanctions productivity-linked bonus to railway employees for FY22

NEW DELHI: Anurag Thakur, the minister of communication and broadcasting, announced on Wednesday that the Union Cabinet, which is presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the payment of productivity-linked bonuses (PLB) to railroad personnel for the fiscal year 2021–2022.

Each year, prior to the dussehra/puja holidays, PLB payments are paid to qualified railway employees. A productivity-linked bonus payment equal to 78 days of salaries was paid to around 11.27 lakh non-gazetted railroad workers this year as well.

The maximum amount payable per entitled railway employee is Rs. 17,951 for 78 days.

Track maintainers, drivers and guards, station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician assistants, controllers, pointsmen, ministerial employees, and other groups "C" workers have all received the aforementioned sum.

The financial impact is reportedly worth Rs. 1,832.09 crore. According to a statement from the administration, the aforesaid decision to pay PLB was made notwithstanding the bad financial condition brought on the post-Covid ciris. It said that the actual number of PLB days paid exceeded the days calculated using established calculations.

According to the statement, the payment of PLB serves as a reward to encourage railroad workers to enhance the operation of the railways.
