Cambodia: A plane carrying 2 million extra doses of China's Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine has arrived in Cambodia's capital. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen met the vaccine at the Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednesday. The event was broadcast live on the Prime Minister's official Facebook page, the state-run National Television of Cambodia (TVK), Fresh News, Cambodia's leading online news provider, and numerous other television networks. Hun Sen noted that, because to China's prompt and consistent vaccine delivery, Cambodia has acquired herd immunity faster than expected and has just reopened all sectors of the country, according to sources. For fully vaccinated international travellers, the Southeast Asian country has allowed quarantine-free travel since Monday. Travelers who test negative for Covid 72 hours before departure and have a negative quick test result upon arrival will be free to visit anyplace in the country under the new plan. "Cambodia has become one of the most fully Covid-19 vaccinated countries in the region and globally, with a strong herd immunity," Hun Sen added. "The effectiveness of Cambodia's Covid-19 vaccination campaign is inextricably linked to China's vaccine supply." Cambodia has received 40 million doses of Covid-19 vaccinations so far from three sources: bilateral procurement, the World Health Organization's COVAX facility, and donations. More than 90 percent of the total was purchased or donated by China.
