Caught in the Act: Delhi Police Foil Jewelry Heist, Injured Thieves Apprehended in Dramatic Chase

New Delhi: In a brazen robbery incident in West Delhi, two motorcycle-borne thieves stopped a victim and snatched gold jewelry at knifepoint. This incident is part of a troubling pattern, with similar complaints reported in the area previously. In response to the rising tensions, multiple police teams from local stations and the Operations Unit were mobilized to track down the culprits. On Thursday, officers in plain clothes were deployed across various locations to intercept potential escape routes while conducting surveillance of vulnerable spots.

Early Thursday morning, between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m., police spotted a motorcycle matching the suspects’ description in the Punjabi Bagh area. Additional teams from nearby stations were alerted immediately. The Special Cell of the Delhi Police pursued the bikers, overtaking them on an Apache motorcycle along Nala Road in Khyala and signaling them to stop. When the suspects refused to comply, the police team maneuvered to block their path, leading to a confrontation.

During the pursuit, the suspects brandished firearms and attempted to shoot at the police. In self-defense, the officers returned fire, injuring both individuals. Other police units were summoned to the scene, and the injured suspects were promptly transported to the hospital.

Initial investigations identified the suspects as Vikas and Ramesh. Authorities recovered firearms, a dagger, and the stolen motorcycle from the scene. During preliminary questioning, the suspects indicated prior involvement in criminal activities, which is currently under verification. The Delhi Police have stated that further details will be released in due course.
