Cauvery Water dispute: TN gets Rs.2,480 crore from karnataka

On the Cauvery water issue today, the Tamil Nadu government for not releasing water to the state has sought a compensation of Rs 2,480 crore from Karnataka. Supreme court today in the sitting has ordered Tamil Nadu and Karnataka government to file a list of witnesses within a week.

Earlier on January 4, the court declared that the hearing in Cauvery water case will be on February 7. The bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra and comprising Justice Amitava Roy and Justice A. M. Khanwilkar asked Karnataka to release 2,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu till the next order.

The court also said that from February 7, there will be hearing daily for three weeks at 2 pm so that the matter can be resolved.
