CBI court refuses to extend Satyendar Jain's judicial custody

NEW DELHI: A special  Central Bureau of Investigation court on Monday refused the extension of Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain's judicial custody with regard to the alleged money laundering case,  as Jain was not produced before the court. He is currently undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

Jain was brought to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital last week after complaining of low oxygen levels. He has been in the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) custody since May 31.

The ED was also instructed by the CBI court at Rouse Avenue to present him via video conference.

The court had on June 18  also denied Jain's bail request before being admitted to the hospital.  On June 9 also he was taken to a hospital after he complained of uneasiness while leaving the Rouse Avenue Court, just after the court hearing.

Jain, his wife, and others have been charged by the CBI with violating the Prevention of Corruption Act. On March 31, the ED temporarily seized immovable properties worth Rs 4.81 crore that belonged to companies that the minister beneficially owned and managed.
