CBI files gang rape and murder in Hathras case

Lucknow: There has been a new twist in the Hathras case of Uttar Pradesh. The Central Investigation Agency (CBi), which took over the case about a week ago, has filed a case against the accused under sections 376D, section 307 and section 302. Section 376D deals with gang rape, while Section 307 is linked to attempted murder, while Section 302 is applied for murder.

In addition, CBI has filed a case under section 3 of the SC/ST Act. This is being described as a new twist in the case as the UP police has been consistently saying that there is no evidence of rape in the incident. According to media reports, a CBI team had arrived in Hathras shortly after registering the case on Sunday. The team met Hathras superintendent of police and took information about the case.

Hathras SP Vineet Jaiswal said that the CBI team has come and is taking over the documents related to the case. There are case diaries and evidence found during the investigation. He told the newspaper that all the paperwork will be completed on Sunday and the investigation of the case will start from Monday.
