Srinagar: The news of the death of Hassan Nasrallah, the head of the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah, has caused grief and outrage among the supporters of Access of Resistance, Iran and Palestine around the world. After the death of Nasrallah, people took to the streets in Iran, Iraq, West Bank and Kashmir in India and expressed their anger by raising slogans against Israel.
Former Chief Minister of Kashmir and People's Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti and senior National Conference (NC) leader Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi condoled the killing of the Hezbollah leader. Both the leaders canceled all their election rallies after this sad news. As soon as Hezbollah confirmed the death of Hassan Nasrallah on Saturday evening, people took to the streets in many areas of Srinagar and Budgam and protested against Israel.
Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, a National Conference MP, cancelled his Rafiabad election rally and apologised to his followers on Twitter, writing, "Dear brothers of Rafiabad, I was coming to meet you but due to a big tragedy I had to cancel my programme. I am very sad. Please forgive me that I could not come. I will meet you soon."
Mehbooba Mufti also condoled Nasrallah's death and cancelled her election programmes. She wrote on Twitter, "I am cancelling my campaign to show solidarity with the martyrs of Lebanon and Gaza, especially Hassan Nasrallah. We stand with the people of Palestine and Lebanon in this hour of grief." Mehbooba's daughter Iltija Mufti also reacted in a similar manner, calling Israel a murderer and condoling the death.
But the question arises that while Lebanon's neighbouring country Syria is celebrating and distributing sweets on the death of terrorist Nasrallah, why is sympathy being shown for him thousands of kilometres away in India's Kashmir? The Muslims of Syria, who have been victims of the atrocities of Nasrallah and Hezbollah, are considering this a just end. The Syrians say that Hezbollah had killed thousands of innocent civilians in their country, and now Nasrallah has got the result of his deeds.
It is beyond understanding why Indian Muslims, especially in Kashmir, are mourning for a terrorist. Are they sad just because Nasrallah was a Muslim? But Muslims are there in Syria too, but they had seen the real face of Nasrallah, which perhaps Indian Muslims did not see.
