New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stayed the order to constitute one of its committees on stubble burning. The court has done so because the court has been assured on behalf of the central government that it is coming up with a law on the issue within the next 3-4 days. Earlier, the court had directed to form a single-member committee to deal with the pollution caused by the problem of burning of stubble. Earlier, the court had ordered the formation of a committee headed by Justice M B Lokur. The court had given the order in its hearing on October 16. Against this, a lawyer from the central government in the court, SG Tushar Mehta has said that the government is working on a comprehensive plan. Which is going to set up a permanent body. Which will address the problem of stubble. The Apex court has welcomed the centre's decision. The court said that this is an issue on which the Government should work. The court said there is no point in PIL. Just people are choking with pollution and it should be stopped. CJI has emphasised that it is our priority that the people of Delhi NCR get clean air to breathe.
