New Delhi: A number of schemes are run by the Central Government, providing financial assistance to farmers, labourers, people working in the unorganized sector and the poor. Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Honorarium Pension Yojana (PM-SYM) is one of these schemes. About 46 lakh unorganized sector workers have registered under the scheme. A statement has been issued by the Ministry of Labour in this regard. The government launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana in 2019 with the objective of providing social security in old age as a monthly pension. Under the scheme, unorganized sector workers will be provided a minimum assured monthly pension of Rs 3,000 after the age of 60 years. According to the Labour Ministry, a total of 45,77,295 unorganized workers have registered under the scheme as on November 25, 2021. In the Pradhan Mantri Shramyogi Mandhan Yojana (PMSYM), you can get a monthly pension of Rs. 3000 in old age by investing only Rs. 2 per day. The benefit of pension starts flowing to you from the age of 60. Under this scheme, you can secure your old age. Under PMSYM, individuals can invest according to their age. If he is 18 years old, he has to invest Rs. 55 per month. People aged 19 years will have to invest Rs 100 per month and people aged 40 will have to invest Rs 200 per month. The government has also made a provision that if the beneficiary dies before the pension service is started, his/her husband/wife will get 50 per cent of the pension amount. The scheme is beneficial for those who work in the unorganized sector like labourers, drivers, house help, cobblers, tailors, rickshaw drivers, etc. According to official data, about 420 million people work in the unorganized sector of the country today.
